1 Peter 5:6-7

How well do you remember this?
What it means
Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you. The command to hand over anxiety sits inside a command to humble ourselves, which means anxiety is often the sound of trying to carry what only God can carry.
Why every Christian should know it
The verse is quoted alone so often that its strength is missed. Peter is not offering a technique for calm. He is describing what humility before God feels like, and he grounds it in the safest fact an anxious heart can hear: he cares for you.

Pray it back
Father, I humble myself under your hand and I hand this to you again. You care for me, so I will stop carrying it alone.
