  • He rejects the elders' counsel, and Israel departs.
  • His reign, and Shishak's raid on Jerusalem.
  • He forsook the law, was humbled, and was partly spared.

Who this person is in Scripture

Rehoboam is asked to lighten his father's yoke and answers with a threat. The northern tribes leave, and is never whole again. Chronicles adds that he later humbled himself when Shishak came, and that God did not destroy him.
