Forgiveness

Listen to this topic

Loading Colossians 3:13

The measure is not what the offender deserves but what we have received. Even as Christ forgave you sets both the pattern and the power. Forgiveness in Scripture is a decision to release a debt, which is why it can be obeyed before the feelings follow.

A prayer from this passage

Lord Jesus, You forgave me a debt I could never repay. Give me grace to release the person I keep holding accountable in my heart. Where the wound is deep, heal it, and do not let bitterness make its home in me.

Key truth

We forgive by the measure Christ forgave us, releasing a debt rather than waiting for the offender to earn it.
