The verse does not say God mends a broken heart quickly. It says He comes near to it. Nearness is the first mercy in grief, and Scripture never asks the grieving to hurry. Christians sorrow, but the New Testament adds three words that change everything about it: not as others.

Lord, You are near to the broken hearted, and my heart is broken. Do not let me grieve alone. Hold me in the days when I cannot pray well, and keep the hope of resurrection in front of me.
