Prayer and walking with God
Hearing God's Voice
Loading John 10:27…
Jesus assumes His people can recognise Him. Notice the order in the verse: hearing, being known, following. Sheep do not learn the shepherd's voice by straining for it in silence but by staying near him long enough to grow familiar with it, which is why Scripture, where He has already spoken, is where recognition begins.
A prayer from this passage
Lord Jesus, You say Your sheep hear Your voice. Make me familiar enough with Your Word to know it when You speak, and honest enough to follow when I would rather ask for another sign. Quiet the voices that are not Yours.
Key truth
God's voice is recognised by those who live near His written Word, and it never contradicts it.
