Scripture says God always provides a way of escape, that temptation begins with desire inside us rather than with God, and that the ordinary means of resisting are watching, praying, walking by the Spirit, hiding God's word in the heart, and fleeing rather than negotiating. It does not promise that temptation stops, and it sends the tempted person to a High Priest who was tempted himself and can be approached for help.
Scripture answers a repeated sin by changing what the believer reckons to be true, then by naming the ordinary means: consider yourself dead to sin, stop presenting your body to it, bring it out of secrecy by confession, walk by the Spirit, and remove what feeds the desire. It does not promise a single moment that ends the struggle, and it does not treat repeated falling as proof that grace has run out.
Scripture describes repentance as turning: a change of mind about sin and about God that turns a person away from sin and toward God, and shows itself in what follows. It is more than regret, since Scripture distinguishes godly sorrow that leads to repentance from worldly sorrow that only produces death, and it is God's gift as well as our act.
Because salvation changes a person's standing with God immediately but their character gradually, and the New Testament is honest that the old nature keeps fighting the new one until glory. Paul, writing as a mature apostle, describes the very struggle in Romans 7. The presence of a fight is not proof that grace has failed. It is often proof that it has begun.
Yes. Scripture repeatedly says that God's forgiveness reaches sins as scarlet, murder, persecution of the church and open blasphemy, provided the sinner turns to him in genuine repentance and faith. The one sin the Bible treats as unforgivable is a settled, final rejection of the Spirit's own witness to Christ, and the very fact that a person is troubled about having committed it is itself strong evidence they have not.
Jesus died because sin has a real penalty, death, and God chose to bear that penalty himself rather than simply overlook it. Scripture presents the cross as a substitution: the sinless one carrying the guilt of the guilty, so that God could remain just and still forgive. It was not an accident that overtook him. It was the plan he came to fulfil.
