Loading Ephesians 6:12

Paul redraws the battlefield. The person in front of us is not the real enemy, which changes how a Christian fights. Every piece of armour that follows is defensive or made of truth, and the whole passage ends in prayer rather than in aggression.

A prayer from this passage

Lord, I forget where the real conflict is and fight the wrong battles. Clothe me in Your armour: truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation and Your Word. Keep me praying rather than warring against people.

Key truth

The Christian's real conflict is spiritual, and the weapons God supplies are truth, faith and prayer.

Related Scriptures

  • Submit to God, resist the devil, and he flees.
  • Weapons that are not carnal, pulling down strongholds of thought.
  • Be sober and vigilant; resist, steadfast in the faith.
