What does the Bible say about work?
Scripture presents work as something given before sin entered the world, made harder by the curse, and redeemed in Christ so that ordinary labour is done for the Lord rather than for people. It commands diligence, honest dealing, rest, and provision for one's household, and it refuses to make a person's worth depend on their job.
Why did Jesus come to earth?
Scripture answers this in his own words more than once. He came to seek and to save the lost, to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many, to do the will of the Father who sent him, to bear witness to the truth, to fulfil the law and the prophets, to destroy the works of the devil, and to give life. Not one of those statements is about setting an example only, and every one of them ends up at the cross and the empty tomb.
How do I know God's will for my life?
Scripture speaks of God's will in two ways. His revealed will is what he has already told us plainly and is not in doubt: holiness, love, gratitude, obedience. His hidden will concerns the future and is not given to us in advance. The Bible directs almost all its attention to the first, and it teaches us to make wise decisions inside it rather than to decode secret guidance.
