Obedience and Love
Jesus ties keeping His words to loving Him, not to fear of Him.
Built on John 14:15-24. The night before His death, Jesus tells the disciples plainly what love for Him actually looks like: keeping His commandments, not merely feeling something toward Him.

The sentence is a condition, not a threat. Jesus does not say keep my commandments so that I will love you. He says love produces keeping, the way a tree produces its own fruit rather than borrowed fruit.
This sits inside a farewell speech full of comfort: He is going away, He will send the Spirit, He will not leave them as orphans. Obedience is placed in the middle of comfort, not apart from it, as though Jesus expects it to be a comfort itself once it is properly understood.
- Obedience follows love; it does not replace it.
- Jesus states this as a description, not a bargain.
- Keeping His words is how love becomes visible.
Lord Jesus, I want my love for You to be more than a feeling. Show me where I say I love You and do something else with my days. Amen.
