Humility

The Lord is near, but He is near to the lowly.

Built on . Paul grounds a plea for humility among believers in the humility of Christ Himself, who did not consider equality with God something to be grasped but emptied Himself.

    Pride's Old Lie

    Today's verse

    Loading Genesis 3:5

    Today's focus

The serpent's temptation was not primarily about fruit. It was about status. Eve and Adam were already made in God's image, already given dominion, already walking with Him in the garden. The lie was that God was withholding something, and that they could seize likeness to Him by their own act rather than receive it as His gift.

Every later sin of pride repeats this shape: dissatisfaction with the place God has given, and a grab for a higher one by our own hand. Humility begins by refusing that lie and trusting that what God gives is genuinely good, even when it involves limits.

    Today's reminder

    • Pride often starts as dissatisfaction with a good limit.
    • The lie is that God is withholding, not giving.
    • Humility trusts God's assignment of place.

    Today's prayer

Lord, forgive me for the times I have believed You were withholding good from me. Teach me to trust the place You have given rather than reach past it. Amen.
