Walking by Faith
Faith is a way of walking, not a way of guessing.
What the labels mean
- Scripture explicitly says
- This states what the biblical text itself says, in the passage being read.
- Direct quotation or allusion
- One part of Scripture quotes or clearly alludes to another. The citing reference is named so you can check it.
- Canonical theme
- A connection across the whole Bible. The passages develop the same theme; one is not quoting the other.
- Interpretive conclusion
- A conclusion drawn from the text. The reasoning is given so you can weigh it against the passage.
- Application
- A step, prayer or question for the reader. Not a claim about what the passage states.

The truth of the day
Paul writes six words and gives the Christian life its shape. Walking means ordinary progress in a real direction. Faith means the progress is not measured by what is currently visible.
Notice he does not say we walk by faith instead of thinking, or instead of evidence. He is writing about being at home in the body while longing to be at home with the Lord. Sight is limited by where the body is. Faith takes the whole of God's promise into account.
Today’s reminder
Scripture explicitly says- Faith walks. It does not sit and wait for certainty.
- What you cannot see yet is not less real than what you can.
- One step in obedience teaches more than an hour of speculation.
Deeper insight
What the passage says in its own setting
Read 2 Corinthians 5:1-10 and the sentence stops floating. Paul is talking about death, a tent taken down, a building from God, and being present with the Lord. He walks by faith because his hope is in something no one has photographed yet.
That is why the paragraph ends with the judgment seat of Christ in verse 10. Faith is not a mood that helps him cope. It is an accounting of reality that includes what has been promised, which is why it changes how he lives now.

Canonical themeHebrews 12:2 calls Jesus the author and finisher of faith, and John 20:29 records Him blessing those who have not seen and yet believed. Faith is not confidence in confidence; it is trust in a risen person whose resurrection has witnesses.
