Every Skill Is a Gift
God fills craftsmen with skill for His purposes, not only prophets and priests.
What the labels mean

This is said about Bezalel, a craftsman appointed to build the tabernacle. The Spirit of God fills him not for prophecy or leadership but for skilled work with his hands, in metal, wood, and design. Scripture treats craftsmanship as a Spirit-given ability.
This dismantles the idea that only spiritual tasks like preaching or praying count as sacred work. God explicitly gifts practical skill for the sake of building something that will house His presence among His people.

Deeper insight
What the passage says in its own setting
Bezalel is named specifically by God to Moses in Exodus 31:2, and Oholiab is given to assist him in verse 6, along with wisdom given to all who are able, to make everything commanded regarding the tabernacle. The project required embroiderers, metalworkers, woodcarvers, and weavers, and Scripture credits their competence to God's Spirit rather than treating it as merely natural talent.
This account predates the more familiar pattern of the Spirit falling on judges and prophets for specific tasks, showing that the Spirit's empowering work in the Old Testament was not limited to speech or leadership. Skilled labor devoted to God's purposes is included in the same category of Spirit-given capacity.
