The Justice of God
The God who saves is also the God who judges rightly.
Built on Deuteronomy 32:4. Moses describes God's work as perfect and His ways as just, and calls Him a God of faithfulness without iniquity. Every day this week returns to that description.
Justice is not a single attribute tacked onto a God who is otherwise defined by love. Scripture presents God's justice as woven through His whole character: He does not overlook wrong, He does not show favoritism, and He does not leave the guilty unpunished, yet the same texts that say this also describe Him as slow to anger and abundant in mercy.
This week looks at justice from several angles: the judge of all the earth doing right, the warning against partiality, the cry of the oppressed reaching God's ears, the patience that precedes judgment, the justice that falls on Christ at the cross, and the justice still to come. None of these stand alone; together they describe a God whose mercy never overrides what is right and whose justice never becomes cruelty.
