Finishing Well
The measure of a life in Scripture is not how it began, but whether it stayed the course to the end.
Built on 2 Timothy 4:6-8. Paul's last written words from prison, looking back at a finished fight and forward to a righteous Judge, given not to himself alone but to all who love Christ's appearing.
Scripture is honest that beginning well is not the same as finishing well. Kings who started with real devotion to God ended their reigns compromised, and disciples who once left everything to follow Jesus were still capable of denying him under pressure. The Bible does not measure a life only by its opening chapters.
This final week of the journey looks at people who did, and did not, finish well: Solomon's decline, Demas who loved this present world, Caleb still ready to take a mountain at eighty-five, and Paul's last recorded words. It closes not with an ending but with a sending, because a discipleship journey does not conclude when the reading does.
