Spiritual Growth

Loading 2 Peter 3:18

Growth is commanded, which means it is not automatic, and it is growth in grace, which means it is not self-improvement. Peter ties maturity to knowledge of a Person. A Christian grows the way a tree grows: slowly, unevenly, and by staying rooted where the water is.

A prayer from this passage

Lord Jesus, I want to know You better, not just know more about You. Grow me in grace where I am still immature, and give me patience with the slowness of real change.

Key truth

Spiritual growth is a lifelong deepening in grace and in the knowledge of Christ, not a burst of religious effort.
