This week · Week 19 of 52
Money and Treasure
What you do with money says where your heart already is.
Built on Matthew 6:19-24. Jesus names two treasuries, two lamps, and two masters, and says a person cannot serve both God and money. This week works through what that means in practice.
Seven days on one page. Every week's board and its full study are free to read, with no account needed, including the weeks already behind us. Each week the study changes and the shape of the week stays the same, so you always know where you are.
Day 1
Two Treasuries
Loading Matthew 6:19-21…
Jesus does not say earthly treasure is wrong to have. He says it is unsafe to store your heart in, because moths, rust, and thieves are all patient and none of them ask permission.
The last line reverses the order most people assume. We think the heart decides where the treasure goes, but Jesus says the treasure pulls the heart after it. Put money somewhere long enough and your heart will follow it there.
- What decays is a poor place to store your heart.
- Treasure in heaven is not vague; it is real and lasting.
- Where you put your money will show you where your heart is.
Lord, show me where I have been storing treasure that cannot last. Turn my heart toward what You call lasting, and give me courage to move what I hold too tightly. Amen.
