Faith Comes by Hearing

If faith came from inside us, growing it would be a matter of effort. Paul says it comes by hearing, and that the hearing comes by the word of God. That changes what you do about weak faith.
The way to a stronger faith is not to strain harder at believing. It is to put yourself where God speaks, which is His word, regularly, in large enough portions to hear Him rather than sample Him.
- Faith is a response to something said.
- Weak faith is often underfed faith.
- Scripture read is God speaking, not a task completed.
Lord, I have tried to manufacture faith by wanting it more. Speak to me from Your word today, and let what You say be the ground my trust stands on. Amen.
