  • Day 1

    Strong in the Lord

    Today's verse

    Loading Ephesians 6:10-11

    Today's focus

Paul does not tell the Ephesians to find strength in themselves. The command is to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might, a strength located outside the person told to use it.

The purpose given for the armor is to stand, not to conquer new ground. Three times in this passage the word stand or withstand appears. The picture is defensive: holding a position that has already been won.

    Today's reminder

    • The strength commanded here is borrowed from the Lord.
    • The armor's purpose is to help you stand, not merely to attack.
    • The devil's schemes are described as wiles, meaning cunning rather than open force.

    Today's prayer

Lord, I do not have strength of my own for this fight. Make me strong in You and in the strength of Your might, and clothe me so I can stand today. Amen.
