Repentance and Return

Turning around is not a one-time hurdle but the shape of an honest life with God.

Built on . The parable of the prodigal son: a son who leaves, a famine that wakes him, a road home, and a father already running.

Seven days on one page. Every week's board and its full study are free to read, with no account needed, including the weeks already behind us. Each week the study changes and the shape of the week stays the same, so you always know where you are.

  • Day 1

    Return, and I Will Return

    Today's verse

    Loading Malachi 3:7

    Today's focus

God states the problem plainly, turned away from my ordinances, and then states the remedy just as plainly: return to me. The invitation comes before any sign that Israel is ready to accept it.

The people's answer is a question, how shall we return, which sounds like confusion but reads more like resistance. Malachi's whole book is a series of complaints answered by God's patient specifics.

    Today's reminder

    • Repentance is a direction, not only a feeling.
    • God names the turning point before we ask for it.
    • Return to me carries a promise attached to it.

    Today's prayer

Lord, You have said return to me and You will return to me. Show me plainly where I have turned away, and give me the will to turn back today. Amen.
