Grief and Comfort
Scripture does not rush the mourner, and it does not leave them alone either.
Built on 2 Corinthians 1:3-4. Paul calls God the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us so we can comfort others. The whole week works out of that sentence.

Jesus Wept

Jesus knew He was about to raise Lazarus. He had already said as much a few verses earlier. And He wept anyway, standing at the tomb of a friend, watching Mary and the others cry.
This settles something before the rest of the week begins. Grief is not a lack of faith or a failure to trust the resurrection. The One who is the resurrection and the life wept at a grave He was about to empty.
- Jesus grieved even knowing the outcome.
- Tears and faith are not opposites in this story.
- He is troubled by death itself, not only by doubt.
Lord Jesus, You wept at a grave You were about to open. Thank You that my tears are not a failure to trust You. Meet me in my grief the way You met Mary and Martha. Amen.
