Paul writes this to Timothy about the Hebrew Scriptures Timothy had known since childhood, and the word he chooses is theopneustos, God-breathed. He does not say the Scriptures contain useful religious ideas. He says their source is the breath of God, which is the same image Genesis uses for how life entered Adam.
The list that follows is not decorative. Teaching gives truth, reproof exposes what is wrong, correction sets it right, and instruction in righteousness trains a new direction. Paul is describing Scripture as a whole discipleship system, not a reference book to consult occasionally.
- The Bible's authority rests on its source, not on how it makes you feel.
- Scripture is meant to teach, correct, and train, not merely inform.

Father, You have not left me guessing about who You are. Thank You for breathing out words I can hold and read. Teach me, correct me, and train me by them today. Amen.
