52 Week Journey

Week 33 of 52

Hearing God's Voice

Scripture is the settled place where God speaks, and He still meets those who listen there.

Built on . A boy who does not yet know the LORD is called by name in the night, and Eli has to teach him what to say back. The chapter is about recognizing a voice, not chasing a sensation.

Many believers want to hear God's voice and quietly assume Scripture does not fully explain what that means. But the Bible has a great deal to say about how God speaks: through His written word, through creation, through conscience shaped by truth, through the counsel of others, and supremely through His Son. This week takes those categories in turn rather than treating hearing God as a single mysterious skill.

It also takes seriously that not every voice claiming to be God's is. Scripture gives tests: does it agree with what God has already said, does it produce the fruit of obedience and truth, and does it point to Christ. A week spent listening well is also a week spent learning to test what is heard.
