Promises Fulfilled in Christ
Every promise God ever made finds its yes in one person.
Built on 2 Corinthians 1:20. Paul's summary statement: however many are the promises of God, in Christ they are yes, and through Christ the church says Amen to God's glory.
Scripture is a book of promises: to Abraham, to David, through the prophets, to a scattered and waiting people. Read alone, any one of these promises can look unfinished, deferred, or only partly kept. Read together, from Genesis to the Gospels, they converge on a single figure. This week follows that convergence.
The aim is not simply to collect proof texts about Jesus. It is to notice how the whole shape of the Old Testament, its covenants, its offices, its unresolved longings, points forward, and how the New Testament writers read their own Scriptures as already about Him. A promise fulfilled is not a promise cancelled. It is a promise arrived.
