52 Week Journey

Week 21 of 52

Family and Household

God builds His work through homes long before He builds it through institutions.

Built on . Joshua's closing charge to Israel, ending with a household decision made in public: as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Scripture does not treat the family as a private arrangement outside the reach of faith. It is the first institution God makes, the first place obedience is taught, and the first place its absence is felt. Genesis opens with a household, the law regulates households, the prophets measure a nation by what happens inside its homes, and the New Testament gives households some of its most direct instructions.

This week does not romanticise family life or pretend the Bible is silent about its failures. It reads real households, some faithful and some broken, and asks what each one teaches about serving God together under one roof.
