The Power of Prayer
Prayer as Scripture teaches it, not as we assume it.
Built on Luke 11:1-13. The disciples ask to be taught, and Jesus answers with a pattern, a parable and a promise. Everything this week grows out of that request.
The disciples did not ask Jesus to teach them to preach or to heal. They asked Him to teach them to pray, which suggests they had noticed something in His praying that they lacked.
This week takes prayer apart the way Scripture does: who we address, what we ask, what to do in the dark, how thanksgiving changes the asking, why praying with others matters, and the fact that Christ Himself prays for His people. The power of prayer in the Bible is never located in the one praying.
