52 Week Journey

Week 6 of 52

Grace That Saves

Salvation is a gift given, not a wage earned.

Built on . Paul's account of what grace does: it finds people dead, makes them alive with Christ, and does so entirely apart from works, so that no one may boast.

Grace is the word Christians use most and understand least. It is easy to say God is gracious and still, quietly, live as though His favor must be earned by good behavior or lost by bad. This week looks directly at what the Bible means by grace, tracing it from the garden where it was first needed to the cross where it was fully shown.

Grace is not God lowering His standard. It is God meeting the standard Himself, in Christ, for people who could not meet it. This week follows that truth through law and gospel, through Old Testament pictures and New Testament declarations, so that grace stops being a comfortable word and becomes the ground someone actually stands on.
