Serving Others
Greatness in the kingdom looks like a towel and a basin.
Built on John 13:1-17. Jesus washes His disciples' feet the night before He dies and tells them to do the same for one another. Everything this week grows out of that scene.
The disciples had been arguing about which of them was the greatest, and Jesus answered the argument by kneeling down with a basin of water. He did not lecture them out of their pride; He showed them what love does with its hands.
This week looks at service as Scripture describes it: modeled by Christ, commanded to the church, aimed especially at the weak and overlooked, and never a performance for applause. Serving others is not a spiritual gift reserved for a few. It is the shape discipleship takes.
